Healthier Game Day Snacks

It is the season for watching football and soon March Madness. I find myself in sports bars and game day parties more often catching the big game. What I don’t want to catch is some big pounds.

Here are some ideas for healthy bar food while enjoying your favorite sporting events.

Chicken Wings, order naked, grilled and sauce on the side

Tuna Bites, order grilled

Bunless Burgers or Sandwiches

Hummus platter

Cheese Platter

Steamed mussels, oysters, shrimp

Salads with a piece of grilled chicken, fish, or shrimp

Salsa and Guacamole

Drink ideas would feature beers in the light variety and clear liquor on the rocks. Try vodka and water with tons of lemons and limes. Throwing a few Crystal Light packs in your purse is a great calorie saver and penny saver as well.

Think twice the next time you order. Save the calories for the beers and drinks! If you must have the cheese fries and pizza, monitor the rest of your week to make room for those naughty nibbles. Schedule a game day morning workout. If you have a neighborhood bar spot close by, hit the pavement by foot or ride your bike to get there. Then at least you are moving before and after you sit sedentary for hours on end cheering on your favorite team. That’s why you are there anywayčśŐčĆłčśâčĹŹ
